Leaseholders
People who have bought their flat from the City Council or from City South Manchester are called 'leaseholders'.
A lease is a private contract between the leaseholder and the owner of the building as a whole - City South Manchester Housing Trust. It describes who is responsible for doing what.
Repairs and maintenance
We are responsible for:
- communal areas - staircases, corridors, lifts, gardens and pathways
- structural and exterior repairs - foundations, outside walls, the roof, window frames, external doors and frames, service pipes and ducts
Service charges
You pay a regular "service charge" to us to cover the costs of this work. You may also pay for other services like caretaking. We send you a regular service charge statement telling you where you are up to with your service charge account. If you have any questions about your services charges, please contact Simon Williamson on 0161 227 1165. You can also email Simon: simon.williamson@citysouthmanchester.co.uk.
Getting involved
We regularly with our Leaseholder Involvement Panel to discuss any service issues that are affecting our leaseholders. As with our other groups, this helps us to develop our services according to what you need. If you'd like to get involved in this group, please come along to our next meeting. Click here for the dates and times of our Leaseholder Involvement Panel meetings.
Communal services
If your building needs a repair to a communal area, or there is a structural problem report it online, or contact us.
Free impartial advice
If you need advice on the law that affects your leasehold, please visit the Lease Advisory Service website. This is a Government funded Executive Non-Departmental Public Body (ENDPB) that offers free legal advice for leasehold law in England and Wales.
