Home improvements
Improvements for every home
We will spend around £92 million improving every home and upgrading the local environment in the next few years.
It means you will get:
- a new fitted kitchen
if yours is over five years old. You'll be able to choose from a range of styles and colours. You'll also get new vinyl flooring, wall tiles and redecoration, as well as updates to electrical fittings. - a brand new bathroom suite
if yours is more than five years old - including a shower over the bath, vinyl flooring, tiles and redecoration. You can choose a walk-in shower if anyone has mobility needs - new, high-quality UPVC double glazed windows
if your home doesn't already have them
Every home will enjoy at least one major improvement like this in the first two years. Our improvements guide tells you when we're coming and what we'll do.
And more . . .
We will put in other improvements if our survey says your home needs them. We will:
- fit new, high-quality, secure UPVC external front and back doors
- rewire your home to a modern standard, including smoke detectors and front and rear security lights
- upgrade your heating system to make sure it's efficient and cost-effective
- add loft and cavity wall insulation where it's needed
Multi-storey blocks will be transformed into modern-looking apartments with external refurbishments.
A better environment too
We will spend £7million on upgrades and improvements to the streets and open areas around local homes. We will work with local people to decide the best way to spend this money.
