Transformation of Bethnall takes shape
A radical facelift designed to improve homes on the Bethnall Drive estate in Fallowfield is starting to take shape and transform the neighbourhood.
Smart new roofs and over cladding of the homes with insulating panels is not only making them look as good as new, but more importantly it will ensure they are weatherproof, reduce damp, and the better thermal efficiency will significantly reduce heating bills for residents.
"The way the properties were constructed in the 1970s has led to them being poorly insulated and prone to damp," says our Head of Asset Management, Chris Wainwright. "But this project to modernise the estate is changing all that."
"Along with the new kitchens, bathrooms, boilers and rewires we've fitted as part of the wider improvement programme they're practically new homes! With the environmental improvements we're also planning we're really making a difference on this estate."
City South is investing £1.5m to improve the homes on the estate. The work is due to be finished in the autumn.
