Could you contribute to key decisions about the services we offer and the future direction of City South?

Would you like the opportunity to put your experience and knowledge of the area to use at the heart of our organisation and make a lasting difference to your community?

If the answer is yes, you could be the person we’re looking for. We reserve four positions on our Board of Management for tenants and leaseholders and we have one vacancy to fill. Also, one existing Tenant Board Director is required to step down but wishes to stand again. Of the four positions one can be a leaseholder and we currently have no leaseholders on the Board.

Who we are looking for?

We’re looking for people from any background and from any of our neighbourhoods who share our passion for improving our homes and communities. You’ll be working closely with other Board members and our senior managers so you’ll need good communication skills, be willing to work as part of a team, and be confident about making important decisions.

What’s involved?

Your job will be to ensure the business plan and governance of City South is implemented properly and contribute to important discussions and decisions affecting our future. You’ll also help us solve problems and tackle a wide range of issues affecting City South. You’ll be expected to devote about two days a month to the role including attending regular Board meetings and other meetings as required. We won’t drop you in at the deep end – we’ll provide you with plenty of help to ensure you are a successful Board member, including training and other support.

Who can’t apply?

Unfortunately we cannot consider an application if any of the following applies:

  • you are not the tenant named on the tenancy agreement
  • you owe a sum equivalent to four or more weeks’ rent
  • you have been barred from any of our premises for violence, abuse, harassment or any other reason
  • you are in breach of your tenancy, lease or license where legal proceedings have been instigated and not withdrawn
  • you have been served with a current anti-social behaviour order
  • you are an undischarged bankrupt you are an employee of City South Manchester
  • you are under 18 years of age
  • you have any unspent criminal convictions

If you’re interested in joining our Board please contact our Governance and Business Support Co-ordinator, Sophie Khaksari, by Friday 26 February (sophie.khaksari@citysouthmanchester.co.uk or 0161 227 1145). We’ll invite everyone who is interested to come and see us so we can tell you more about what’s involved, tell you how the process of assessment, nomination and election will work, and give you an application form.
