Home comforts: you keep all your main rights and your security of tenure

We’re a brand new company, but there’s no need to worry about difficult changes.

Here are answers to some of the questions people have asked the build-up to the transfer. They show that the only changes coming your way are the positive ones that will add up to a brighter City South future.

Will I keep my legal rights?

We promised that when you transferred to City South Manchester you would keep the main legal rights you enjoyed as a council tenant. So you still have the right to buy your home, pass on your home, and exchange your home for instance. You keep your security of tenure and your right to be consulted on important decisions.

Do I change the way I pay rent?

No. When you transferred to City South your rent account transferred too. Just keep paying your rent in the same way. Your payments will automatically go to City South Manchester. But rent arrears come too; if you owed rent to the council you now owe it to us. Owe rent? We can help.

Do I need to re-apply for Housing Benefit?

No. If you already get Housing Benefit you don’t need to make a new application. If you don’t get benefit, but think you may be entitled, you can make an online benefit claim and calculation.
