Well, it’s quite the opposite, actually. In fact, the council’s recycling team are making big improvements when it comes to reclaiming your rubbish...

Changes for 2009

If you live in Fallowfield or Whalley Range and have the blue and brown ‘Twin Bins’ you’ve probably already started the new recycling collection system. Just to remind you - one week it’s the blue bin, and the week after is the brown bin. Still not sure what goes in which bin? Take another look . . .

What goes where
  • Use your blue bin for: paper, cardboard, cartons (such as tetra-pak), envelopes, magazines, phone directories, catalogues and greetings cards
  • Use your brown bin for: glass, cans and tins, aerosols, aluminium foil and plastic bottles (lids off please!)

If you live in Hulme or Moss Side, the council’s recycling team will get in touch soon to tell you when it’s likely to start in your neck of the woods. And it's good news for our high-rise residents too - if you’re in a block of flats, you’ll get the new service by the end of the year.

If you have any questions or you need a new bin or collection calendar, call Environment on Call on 0161 954 9000 or visit: www.manchester.gov.uk/recycling
